Think of this dictionary as a set of electronic flashcards
which can be used by English speakers who are learning Turkish and Turkish
speakers who are learning English. It is interactive because its purpose is
for the user to add words and phrases as they are encountered, then review
or otherwise use the entries later.
HOW
CAN IT BE USED ?
The dictionary comes with an initial, rather random, list of
about 700 words, phrases, and sentences which the author found useful or interesting.
You won't find 'kedi' or 'cat', we already knew those. But if you want
to add them you can.
When words are entered, you can also classify them according
to classifications you create in the program. Then when you want to review or
print selected words and sentences, they can be filtered and displayed accoring
to your classification.
Some examples of would be:
Show everything entered from Chapter 9 of the book
Show all words enetered in the last ten days
Show everything entered in July
Show everything entered from M. Urgan's book
Show everything classified as a proverb
Show all words marked as 'must know'
Show all words classed as computer terms
You get the idea. There are limited instructions in the included file 'instructions.doc'
WHAT
EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED ?
A Pentium computer running Windows 95 or better. You will
probalby also need to install the Turish font, HP Arial, which is included
with the download. See the instructions.
